How to set a stylish Discord name
- Type your name. Styles are checked against Discord's 32-character display name limit.
- Copy a style.
- For your global name: open User Settings, then Profiles, then Display Name, and paste.
- For one server only: right-click (or long-press) the server, choose Edit Server Profile, then Server Nickname, and paste.
Discord has three names. Your username only allows lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Your display name and server nicknames accept stylish fonts and symbols.

Style your server too
Server owners use stylish text for channel categories and role names. Channel names are usually lowercase without fancy fonts, but category names and roles accept them:
| Where | Example |
|---|---|
| Category | โโ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โโ |
| Role | โ ๊ฑแดสแด แดส แดแดกษดแดส |
| Role | โง ๐ฅ๐๐ |
| About Me | หโโง ษขแดแดแดส โข แดสแดษชsแด โงโห |
For long About Me sections, use the fancy font changer. Need symbols for dividers? See stylish symbols.
Keep it friendly
Some servers ask members to use readable names so moderators can mention them. If a server has that rule, keep your first letters plain and decorate only the edges. Gamers can match their Discord name with their in-game tag using our gaming names page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use fancy fonts in my Discord username?
No. Usernames only allow lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Use stylish fonts in your display name or server nicknames.
How long can a Discord display name be?
Up to 32 characters. The badge on each style shows whether it fits.
How do I set a different name for each server?
Open the server menu, choose Edit Server Profile and set a Server Nickname. It overrides your display name only in that server.
Why can't people mention me after I changed my name?
Fancy letters are different characters, so typing @ followed by your plain name may not find you. Members can still mention you by clicking your name.
